PATRICK CROMMELYNCK AND TAEKO KUWATA DECEASED

BRUSSELS (belga) - Patrick and Taeko Crommelynck - better known as the Duo Crommelynck - together made an end at their lives. Their bodies were found in their house in Oudergem. The piano-duo had a decent artistic reputation,

and were known for their tempestous live.

Patrick Crommelynck was 47. He studied with Stefan Askenase in Brussels, with Victor Merjanov in Moskou and with Dieter Weber in Vienna. There he met Taeko Kuwata (Tokyo, 1945). They married en build up a enviable reputation in the field of four-handed music and music for two pianos, under the name of ’Duo Crommelynck’. On stage they were known for their integrals of eg the four-handed music of Brahms and Dvorak. Many composers wrote music for them. Their discography is impressive and contains, besides four-handed work, also arrangements for two pianos of orchestral music.

Because the body of Patrick Crommelynck was lying on the ground, the judical police assumes that he first made an end at his life. His wife would have found his body later on, put him on the ground, after which she decided also to make an end at her life.
